Center for Comparative Studies of Ancient Civilizations

Established in June 2019, Center for Comparative Studies of Ancient Civilizations is an academic and non-profit social organization supervised by the Chinese Academy of History, and its management is entrusted to the Institute of World History.  

The center is endeavored to leverage the respective strengths of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Chinese Academy of History, to organize research projects on ancient civilizations, in which, ancient Chinese, Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Indian are the main targets. The center will dedicate to comparative studies of these ancient civilizations, in order to understand their origination and developing patterns, their lineage and the interactions between the civilizations, so to figure out the nature and development of human beings. 

The center will serve to: 

Stay in touch with relevant home and abroad academic groups, propose, discuss and plan for key research programs of ancient civilizations, mainly on such themes as nature of ancient civilizations, methods and theories of comparative studies, etc. 

Introduce and exchange research achievements and developments of ancient civilization studies at home and abroad by organizing academic lectures, seminars and symposiums; 

Popularize academic knowledge to fulfill the public needs 

Publish, compile, edit or translate works of ancient civilizations
