The China Society of Japanese History, founded in 1980, is the only national academic society dedicated to Japanese history in China.
With over 300 members from across the country, the Society unites historians in the field through a variety of academic activities, in an effort to bring up more talents, to attain more academic accomplishments, to strengthen the academic and friendly relations between the two countries, and to form a stronger bond within the academia.
Roles & Responsibilities:
I. Address the joint power of institutions and professionals of Japanese history in China to fulfill delegated scholarly requirements
II. Promote academic exchanges and communications; support the collection, editing and publication of research results; facilitate the publishing process of journal articles;
III. Scrutinize and validate academic works of the Society and assigned by other institutions;
IV. Make full use of available resources to nurture talents and assemble a powerful research team;
V. Publish academic journals of the Society;
VI. Carry out a variety of international academic communication activities.
Selected Activities and Accomplishments:
I. 30 Annual academic conferences;
II. International academic seminars, e.g.: Taika Reforms, Messengers of Friendship in the History of Sino-Japanese Communication, Japanese and Internationalization, Concept of East Asia and Peaceful Development, The 50 Years of Postwar Japan, Traditional Culture and the Economic Development of China and Japan, Japan and Northeast Asia;
III. Subject-Oriented Workshops, e.g.: Yamatai, Appraisal of Japanese Historical Figures, Periodization of the Japanese Federal Society, The Traditional Culture and the Modernization of Japan, Comparison of the Modernization of China and Japan, The Economic Development of Postwar Japan and East Asia;
IV. Publications: Proceedings of Japanese History (Volume I & II), Index of information on Japanese History, over 1000 journal articles, 100 academic monographs, and dozens of academic translations
