The China British History Association (CBHA), founded in 1980, is a national non-governmental academic organization registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of PRC. Its management is entrusted to the Institute of World History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
With over 200 members nationwide, CBHA endeavors to unite professionals dedicated to British history studies, aiming to deepen understanding in the research area, to promote socialist science and culture, to strengthen the friendly relations between China and the UK, and to further the progress of modernization in China.
CBHA serves to:
I. Propose, discuss and plan for key research projects on British history;
II. Organize occasional academic seminars, conferences and symposiums that share the latest news and achievements in British history research and teaching;
III. Assist CBHA members in translating, compiling, writing and publishing academic articles on British history;
IV. Keep updated on the progress of research and teaching of CBHA members, recommend quality works for publication, and nurture talents to assemble a powerful research team;
V. Increase academic contacts with the British academia, and carry out a variety of international academic exchange activities on an equal basis;
VI. Maintain effective communication with kindred academic communities to share research findings and ideas;
VII. Create favorable conditions to publish academic journal articles on British history research and teaching;
Boost academic conversations on British history research and teaching through modern information technology such as the Internet.
