Section of Russian and Eastern European History Organized Symposium on the Development of Studies on Russian History and Eastern European History

In order to further promote the development of studies on Russian history and Eastern European history, section of Russian and Eastern European history organized one symposium on the development of studies on Russian history and Eastern European history on August the 25th, 2016. The symposium was held by director Shunhong Zhang. Associate director Chaoguang Wang, retired scholars from the section and current members of IWH working on these two areas took part in the symposium.
Researcher Xiaoju Wang (current director of section of Russian and Eastern European history) briefly introduced the current situation, the relevant innovative projects and international cooperative projects of Russian history and Eastern European history studies. Other scholars discussed issues of researchers, news, and directions of Russian history and Eastern European history studies.
The symposium serves as a new start of Russian history and Eastern European history studies. It summarized the past of the discipline and concluded its present situation. In view of its future, all participants firmly believe that the section and the discipline will make further achievements with everyone’s effort.
