American History Research Association of China (AHRAC)

  Founded in 1979, the American History Research Association of China (AHRAC) is a professional organization engaged in the research and teaching of American history in China, mainly dedicated to connecting Chinese and foreign scholars of American history, nurturing academic exchanges and general education, and promoting the healthy development of Chinese-American relations.  

  In previous decades, AHRAC has made itself an indispensable platform of academic exchanges on American history in China. The Association hosts regular biennale conferences, the biennial Yangtze River Delta Forum on American History, the biennial Western Forum on American History, and the annual Forum of Young Scholars on American History.  

  AHRAC has also established a long-term cooperation with the Organization of American Historians (OAH).  

  Publications of the Association includes volumes of Collections of Essays on American History Research, Collections of Translated Works in American History, as well as a six-volume General History of the United States (edited by Yang Shengmao and Liu Xuyi). The Association also publishes the American History Research Newsletter, and is responsible for the daily operations the AHRAC website as well as an official WeChat account “American History Research”.  

  The Secretariat, locating in Shanghai University now, is responsible for the Association’s routine work. Wuhan University, Nankai University, and Xiamen University had served as secretariats previously. The sitting President of AHRAC is Professor Liang Maoxin of Northeast Normal University, and the Vice President and Secretary General is Professor Zhang Yong-an of Shanghai University.
