Office of General Management and Services

  Founded in 2019 as a combination of the previous Research Department and the Administration Department, the Office of Administration and Research Management at the Institute of World History assists its leadership in organizing, coordinating, managing, serving and supervising activities related to the CPC, scientific research, foreign affairs, human resource, daily operations and logistics. Specifically, the main responsibilities of the Office include:  

    

  1. CPC-Centered Duties  

  a. Attending Party Committee meetings and taking detailed memos  

  b. Strengthening Party leadership over ideological work 

  c. Building and nurturing Party branches  

  d. Calculating and collecting Party Membership dues  

    

  2. Research and Academic Management Duties  

  a. Drafting and modifying regulations on academic activities 

  b. Developing and materializing research plans 

  c. Organizing and overseeing each stage of academic projects 

  d. Budgeting and reimbursing for research projects  

  e. Monitoring the application for Innovation Project positions 

  f. Evaluating the progress and performance of Innovation Projects  

  g. Declaring and publishing academic writings  

  h. Facilitating academic committee meetings  

  i. Summarizing, displaying and evaluating research outcomes 

  j. Arranging academic conferences and seminars 

  k. Initiating scholarly communications with external and international experts 

  l. Regulating teaching and graduate student management  

  m. Administering the activities of IWH-related Research centers and academic societies  

  n. Building collaborative scholarly relationships with relevant academic institutions  

  o. Developing and maintaining effective websites  

  p. Engaging in work related to the survey and studies of national conditions   

    

  3. Administration and Coordination Duties 

  a. Assembling the minutes for internal and external meetings on multiple levels  

  b. Formulating working plans, as well as office policies and regulations  

  c. Planning out and managing budgets 

  d. Storing, forwarding, and managing correspondences and files  

  e. Drafting and distributing official reports and documents 

  f. Ensuring the confidentiality and security of seals 

  g. Making sure activities and procedures are in line with national policies and legislation  

    

  4. Personnel Management Duties 

  a. Selecting, orienting and training newly recruited employees 

  b. Assisting with managing senior and postdoctoral scholars, and sponsoring academic activities of returned overseas students 

  c. Planning and managing the recruitment and selection of new employees and scholars  

  d. Assessing performance and verifying the eligibility to attain and upgrade professional titles  

  e. Maintaining key personnel files  

  f. Supporting retirees as needed 

  g. Directing decisions about employee pay, benefits, rewards and other forms of compensation 

  h. Handling year-end group and individual performance evaluation  

    

  5. Logistics and Office Support Duties  

  a. Keeping records of the purchasing and utilizing of national assets 

  b. Coordinating office mails and parcels  

  c. Representing the Labor Union in serving and directing employees  

  d. Drafting and implementing workplace safety and hygiene policies  

  e. Handling tasks related to the Family Planning Policy and Female Wellness 

  f. Mobilizing the youth generation to make greater achievements  

  g. Fulfilling other assigned duties.
