The Kick-off Meeting of the Project of October Revolution (1917) Database Held in Beijing

　　On March the 16th, 2018, the kick-off meeting of the project of October Revolution (1917) Database was held in Beijing by Library of CASS and IWH. Wangjing Rao, associate director of IWH, presided over the meeting. 14 staffs from IWH, Library of CASS and Chinese Humanities development co., Ltd. attended the meeting.

　　Wangjing Rao pointed out that the construction of October Revolution (1917) Database is an important task of putting Socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New era into practice and meeting the requirement of “the three orientations”. It is a practice to enhance our ability to broadcast theoretical and academic knowledge. It is also an important way to study and spread Marxism and consolidate the communist belief. CASS greatly emphasize the importance of the database project, organized experts to evaluate it and finally authorized the project through the Council of Academy. Wangjing Rao revealed that CASS had recently printed “Assignment Book of Key Information Construction in CASS”, which means that the project of October Revolution (1917) Database has already been authorized. The purpose of this kick-off meeting is to meet the requirement of the assignment book and make sure the project can be finished in time and in high quality.

　　Qi Yang (dean of section of projection and construction of Library of CASS) forwarded congratulations from Lan Wang (Party committee secretary and director of Library of CASS), confirmed that Library of CASS would offer support and help to various works of this project, and explained the details of platform construction and tenders of this project.

　　Wangjing Rao concluded the meeting and pointed out that the project of October Revolution (1917) Database could be a constructive attempt for institutes and libraries to cooperate and make full use of respective advantages. It must be an important innovation of the construction of specialized databases in aCASS. The undertakers of the project should pay great attention, be specialized, and cooperate with each other so as to promote this project and achieve positive goals.
